Falafel Platter

Falafel platter from Mamoun's in Hoboken

The famous falafel sandwich now comes as a salad.

Mamoun’s Falafel has been something of an West Village institution for cheap, vegetarian falafel sandwiches. Lines form out the door at night and on weekends, satisfying both the party goers and nearby college student budgets.

But Mamoun’s has finally expanded behind the tiny little shop on MacDougal Street, and so has its menu. Mamoun’s Hoboken caters to the office lunch crowd with falafel platters piled with pickled vegetables, olives and of course, falafel balls. I like to think of it as a healthy alternative, overlooking the fact that the falafel is fried.
