If there is one thing I miss about living in New Jersey, it’s Taylor Ham. If there are two things, I would also add disco fries. If you aren’t from New Jersey, you might not know what either of these things are. If you’re from south Jersey, you might not want to argue that it’s actually pork roll and not Taylor ham.

The big, puffy fried dough had long been a staple of Provincetown’s Portuguese Bakery, but with the pandemic in 2020 and new owners taking control of the shop in 2021, several years had passed since I had the delicious treat. That all changed over Memorial Day weekend this year.





Korean-Style Kimchi From The Farmer’s Market

Kimchi from Kimchi Kooks in McGolrick park at the farmers market comes in neat little glass jars which have also been useful for food storage

The farmers market in McGolrick Park had a new vendor: Kimchi Kooks. The shop offered more than the usual cabbage kimchi, so I obviously had to sample some.

The San Gennaro festival returned to New York City’s Little Italy neighborhood this year. The festival has been happening for almost a century was cancelled in 2020 due to the COVID pandemic.
