Wild Boar Sloppy Joe

The wild boar sloppy Joe was disappointingly bland and absolutely sloppy.
By late in the afternoon we had finally wandered over to the dedicated pig meat area. There were bacon sandwiches and pig products galor. The main draw here was Porchetta, a popular east village shop. But that was old news to me so instead I went for the less common wild boar sandwich.
In my experience, wild boar is thick and juicy and tastes like a meaty pig, the opposite of the factory raised, super lean hogs we tend to get in grocery stores.
So I was a little disappointed with the particular sandwich given everything I hoped it could have been. Don’t get me wrong, it was a good sandwich, just not the show stopper I wanted it to be. Still, by that point in the afternoon there were few things more pleasurable than snacking on the sandwich in the shaded hillside while Lez Zeppelins took the stage.
