Eating at Bay Ridge Bakery

Greek Style Cakes
Out in Bay Ridge, we found ourselves in a neighborhood bakery.
Some of the baked goods seemed like the ordinary pastries, but then there were those that looked a lot like an Alien baby. I’m not really sure how to pronounce the name of this one, but it was one of the best.
The one below was a heavy cake filled with syrup and topped with nuts — more traditional in expectation and flavor.
Chocolate Powder Cookie
I got these chocolate, powder covered cookies in Bay Ridge expecting them to be something special.
Turns out they are just kind of a dry chocolate cookie that gets white powder sugar everywhere.
Feta Pie
I expected this feta filled pastry to be sweet.
It wasn’t. Following a half dozen overly sweet pastries, the saltiness of the feta pie was a welcome relief staving off a sugar coma. Still, I would have preferred a bit more flavor, and the dry flaky pastry dough in combination with the dry, flaky feta cheese was overall a bit of a disappointment.
