Eating at Ceraldi: As Local as Local Gets on Cape Cod

By on Sunday, July 21st, 2024 at 5:06 pm

Ceraldi on Cape Cod overlooks Mayo Beach in Wellfleet

Ceraldi might be the best restaurant on Cape Cod. That’s not an exaggeration or hyperbole. It was named the best Restaurant on Cape Cod by Boston Magazine in 2022. Earlier this month, I ate here twice in a week, and both times it was a great decision.

The Rise and Fall of Tasti D-Lite: What Happened to New York City’s Favorite Frozen Dessert

By on Wednesday, April 17th, 2024 at 2:07 pm

Tasti D-lite was once a small empire of New York City based shops, expanded globally, and is again back to a local two-location mini-chain

Venerated as a low-cal treat without the compromise of froyo, Tasti D-Lite couldn’t open locations fast enough. Then the venture capitalists promised a global empire.

Eating at Regina’s Grocery: How Italian Sandwiches Should Be

Regina's Grocery on Orchard Street in Manhattan serves up deli sandwiches

We were hungry and walking down the street when we came upon this deli that looks like its straight out of a vintage Italian American magazine. We decided to try it, and it was great.

Eating At Serra: When Italian Food Is Kind of Mid

Serra on the roof of Eataly in the Flatiron district

Let me begin by saying we were in the Flatiron district. I know, those words sound silly even as I type them out. Why would anyone be there of all places? My wife was at a coworking space and we were meeting my brother who was coming from the Upper West Side, and suddenly it seemed like the easy place to meet.

Eating At Shalom Japan: They Still Got It

Shalom Japan dining room

Shalom Japan has been around quite a while, opening back in 2013. The chefs are a married couple, Aaron Israel and Sawako Okochi, and the menu is a collaboration merging their two respective culinary cultures – Jewish and Japanese cuisine. The result, of course, is remarkable. The restaurant remains at hit on tastemaking sites like The Infatuation and they regularly receive the Michelin Bib Gourmand.
